Senior Associate - Fund Administration

Entry-level opportunity for a recent graduate who wants to get in on the ground floor of a fast-growing Fund Administration firm focusing on private credit, private equity, venture capital and real estate funds. Show More

Responsibilities:

  • Managing internal workflows and client deadlines.
  • Building client relationships & liaising with client personnel on a daily basis.
  • Maintaining a good working relationship with all client contacts including investment professionals, investors, auditors, and banking personnel.
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial work paper packages, including portfolio investment schedules, accruals and partner capital allocations.
  • Preparing quarterly and annual financial statements and footnotes for publication.
  • Middle office responsibilities include capital call notice generation and processing, partner distributions, paying fund expenses and wire processing, and complex calculations of management and performance fees, including cash distribution waterfalls (e.g., carried interest and real estate JVs).

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Experience:

  • 5 to 7 years, preferred
  • Self-motivated, confident, patient and a strong desire to exceed expectations
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills with unsurpassed attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a startup environment with an entrepreneurial spirit, as well as the ability to demonstrate initiative and perform well under pressure.
  • Desire to learn, grow and roll up your sleeves to build a business, while simultaneously handling multiple assignments.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related Business degree with a minor/concentration in Accounting
  • Introduction to financial products including, but not limited to, public and private equity, fixed income, venture capital, and real estate, a major plus

About the Role

As the Assistant Compliance Manager, you will work with the U.S. management team and global compliance group in developing and maintaining a robust compliance culture and managing compliance risk throughout the North America offices. This includes ensuring the firm stays in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, reporting requirements and controls imposed by the Board of Directors. Your duties will include:

  • Develop, implement and embed a practical and effective approach to regulatory compliance framework and procedures to ensure they are maintained and compliance monitoring testing in accordance with best practices;
  • Provide regular compliance monitoring reports for the company, in addition to timely advice and practical guidance and training for the wider offices;
  • Provide consistent guidance or feedback with respect to Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Customer Due Diligence to the administration and review teams;
  • Maintain various compliance registers;
  • Assist with external audits and the preparation of Due Diligence audits;
  • Review prospective new business and/or changes to structures, ensuring that client take-on procedures and adequate CDD requirements are met; and
  • Work with the Global File Review team to deliver allocated file reviews, concentrating mainly on the North America business and associated files.

About You

You will be an effective problem solver with the ability to initiate and manage change. You will also have 2-3 years good working knowledge and practical experience of the Financial Action Task Force’s recommendations and standards with respect to global money laundering and terrorist financing.  The following attributes would also be advantageous:

  • Degree and/or relevant professional qualification (such as CAMS certification);
  • A pragmatic approach to risk mitigation achieved through a practical framework of internal controls and procedures;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people at all levels;
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and to guide and direct others to meet deadlines and targets; and
  • The ability to work both independently and under supervision.
